Silk Road catered for one of my school events and i was so impressed by the food i needed to write a review!  The restaurant has a nice location on Cambridge St and is also Halal.  I've never had Uyghur food, and I am craving to come back.  Such an intricate and delicious blend of flavors and textures.  I had the:

Pumpkin Manto: 5/5 My favorite!  Must-try.  Didn't expect to like the dish because I'm not the biggest fan of pumpkin, but looooved this.  One of the best dumplings I've ever had.

Dried Fried Noodle: 4/5.  Loved the texture of the noodles and flavors

Laghman: 5/5.  I haven't tried this kind of noodle in Asian food before. Enjoyed the noodle texture

Uyghur Pilaf:  5/5.  My favorite entree.  Such an interesting blend.  There were even dried raisins in the dish.  Everything worked so well together

This was my first time trying Uyghur cuisine and it was amazing!  Will be coming back for sure.  I have never tried Asian food like this before.  I really enjoy the favors and will be telling all my friends about it.

I've never had Uygher cuisine before. It was love at first bite. I would describe Uygher food as Chinese food but with a twist. If you like spicy food, you will like Uygher cuisine.
Also, there are not bathrooms here. So if spicy food gives you stomach problems, you might want to order non spicy dishes.
The restaurant is small but is packed during the evenings. My absolute favorite dish is the naan meat pie. Do you like naan? Yes. Do you like meat? Yes. Put those together and you get the most delicious meat pie you've ever had. The dry noodles are really spicy and flavorful too. The lamb soup isn't spicy, and is a great way to start your meal.
I cannot wait to come back to try all the other dishes here.

I've been here twice now for weekday dinners, and each time has been great! The first time, I got the dry fried noodles and stir fried lamb. It was so good I had to come back! The second time, I got the Uyghur pillaf and scallion lamb. Again, absolutely delicious.

The place is quite unassuming from the street, and interior is rather small with not many tables, but it's definitely worth a visit. The dry fried noodles have to be my favorite dish so far. It's got the perfect fried noodle texture and a lot of flavor! The scallion lamb, too, was delicious, although a little too greasy. And the Uyghyr pillaf is something I feel like I can eat all the time - it's so comforting and simple yet packed full of flavor. I'm sure it wasn't simple to cook, judging by how all the flavors and textures were balanced so well together!

I finally got a chance to come here with a friend who's more familiar with the food from this region. The restaurant itself is quite small, with maybe 8 tables max. But since we were there for lunch around noon on a weekday, the restaurant wasn't crowded at all. It was just us and another table/party of 3-4 people.

We ordered 3 dishes: bean jelly, big plate chicken and dry fried noodles. Here, the dish tended to be more region specific...and of course you wont typixally find americanized chinese food (or maybe you can...but I guess that wasn't why we came here for).  The dishes came out pretty fast and the portion was quite generous.

Out of the 3 dishes we ordered, I loved the dry fried noodles the most. It was so tasty that I would order it again. The big plate chicken which was basically flat noodles with potatoes and chicken was ok, too. The chicken tasted fine..but I'm typically not a fan of meat..so I enjoyed more of their noodles. My friend like them enough to take the 2 dishes we had for leftovers home as well. For the bean jelly, i thought it was just ok. The jelly didn't really taste anything much..so I would probably pass on it next time.

Overall, I'm glad I tried the dishes here. I found the dishes here to taste quite good..but it was a bit oily and lacking in terms of veggies. I guess that might have been reflected by the region where the food came from as well.

Service was nice. The guy was kind and let me sit and wait for my friend ahead of our appointment. He brought the menu and water jug/glasses ready for me and before my friend arrived, too.

P.S. bathroom was very limited to none..so try to take care of your business before you go there!

I was not expecting to find authentic Uyghur cooking in the suburbs of Boston, of all places, but there you have it.

This place easily compares with most of the places we ate in Xinjiang. It's not the best, but it's damned good, and it's better than any other Central Asian we've run into in the States by a huge margin.

The plov (pilaf) and the lamb skewers are definitely worth some attention when looking at the menu.

Unfortunately it's not quite enough to persuade me to move here... houses are too expensive and I'd get very fat eating out here all the time.
